Modern Sovereignty – Inaugural Issue
Ibex Publishing is pleased to announce a call for contributions for the inaugural issue of Modern Sovereignty, a new publication exploring the frontiers of resilience, security and strategic transition.
Many of the issues shaping Europe’s future no longer fit neatly within traditional policy boundaries. Questions of energy security are also questions of industrial policy. Critical minerals are also questions of trade and geopolitics. Climate adaptation is increasingly linked to infrastructure resilience, economic security and public preparedness. Defence, logistics, transport, technology and competitiveness are becoming ever more interconnected.
Modern Sovereignty has been established as a forum for these conversations.
Through interviews, analysis and expert contributions, the publication examines the systems, capabilities and institutions that underpin resilience, prosperity and freedom of action in the twenty-first century. Bringing together perspectives from across government, industry, academia and civil society, Modern Sovereignty seeks to encourage informed discussion on the strategic challenges and opportunities shaping Europe and beyond.

Editorial Contributions
Editorial contributions are articles considered by the Modern Sovereignty editorial team to offer genuine editorial value.
We welcome submissions from policymakers, academics, researchers, practitioners, industry experts, think tanks and civil society organisations.
Editorial contributions should be analytical, evidence-based and written in good faith. They may be edited for clarity, style and length by the editorial team. Editorial articles must not promote a particular organisation, product or commercial service.

Does the inaugural issue have a specific theme?
Unlike future editions, which will each explore a broad thematic focus, the inaugural issue is intended to introduce the publication and establish its editorial scope. We therefore welcome contributions from across the full range of topics covered by Modern Sovereignty.
What should I include in my editorial contribution proposal?
The objective of the proposal is to provide the editorial team with an overview of your proposed contribution. A proposal may be as brief as 100 words or as detailed as a working draft. Once submitted, the editorial team may provide feedback or suggestions before inviting a final manuscript.
How long should article contributions be?
Articles are typically between 500 and 1,000 words. Longer or shorter submissions may be considered where appropriate.
Who can contribute?
Modern Sovereignty welcomes contributions from policymakers, researchers, academics, industry leaders, practitioners, public affairs professionals and civil society organisations.
The editorial team reserves the right to accept, reject or request revisions to any submission.
What is the difference between an editorial contribution and a partnership opportunity?
Editorial contributions are written by individuals and are selected solely on the basis of their editorial merit, relevance and value to readers. They are reviewed by the Modern Sovereignty editorial team and may be edited for clarity, style and length. Editorial contributions must be non-promotional and should not seek to market an organisation, product or service.
