The European Commission’s latest report on the technological and market readiness of heavy-duty road transport vehicles highlights a significant shift towards zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) at the forefront of this transition. The report underscores the ambitious CO2 emission reduction targets set for new heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs), aiming for a 45% reduction by 2030, 65% by 2035, and 90% by 2040. Urban buses are also mandated to achieve 90% zero-emission status by 2030 and 100% by 2035, reflecting the EU’s commitment to climate neutrality by 2050.
