EDF-owned electric car charging provider Pod Point Ltd. is set to list on the London Stock Exchange. The move comes as the company plans to invest heavily in developing its charging infrastructure, a push mirrored by UK based energy suppliers such bp and Shell.
Electric car infrastructure providers are striving to meet the UK’s long term demands as the country is set to ban most internal combustion car sales by 2030. Experts, however, question whether growth in the UK’s electric car infrastructure will be sufficient to meet the country’s objectives. Indeed, according to a report by the European Alternative Fuels Observatory, the UK lags the Netherlands, France, and Germany in the absolute number of electric vehicle public charging points.
