Brussels — The European Union is gearing up to establish its position on the 2025 budget for the Transport Community, a key organisation dedicated to integrating Western Balkans‘ transport markets with the EU. The proposal, set to be discussed by the Council of the EU, outlines the bloc’s stance ahead of the Regional Steering Committee’s decision on next year’s budget.
The Transport Community, established by the Treaty of 2017 and operational since 2019, comprises the EU, six South East European parties (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia), and three observing participants (Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). Its primary goal is to create a unified transport community in road, rail, inland waterway, and maritime sectors, extending the EU’s transport network to the Western Balkans.
